A single online application may be used to apply for the Jeff Morel Memorial, Kyle Hohn Memorial, Richard H. Crosser Memorial, Harold “Hap” Skillman Memorial, Savannah Bettis Memorial, Taylor Marcotte Legacy, Superintendents, Dorinda York Art & Design, Cabello Family “Somos Wayne,” Robey Rockets, and Gary Wishmeyer Music Scholarships. The application is not savable and must be completed in one sitting. Use this worksheet to complete the questions in advance and copy/paste into the application

Jeff Morel Memorial Endowed Scholarship ($500-$1,000) – Jeff Morel was a Wayne Township School Bus Driver diagnosed with a liver disease. He was to have received a liver transplant, but the disease claimed his life at age 35. Jeff’s fellow bus drivers worked diligently to raise funds to supplement expenses incurred in the course of his illness. His never-ending courage, bright outlook on life and his encouragement to young people to seek their full potential and continue their education prompted the drivers to utilize the extra funds to establish this scholarship fund.  There are no unique criteria for this scholarship.

Kyle Hohn Memorial Endowed Scholarship ($500-$1,000) – The Kyle Hohn Memorial Scholarship was established in 2003 in honor of Kyle J. Hohn, a 1988 Ben Davis High School Alumnus who passed away January 5, 2002, following a sixteen-month battle with renal cell carcinoma.  Unique Criteria:  Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 2.5.  Special consideration given to:  Applicants who display a strong work ethic; Applicants who display a strong commitment to their school and community; Applicants who are interested in a   career in the building trade industry and who may be studying: architectural engineering, mechanical engineering, architecture, construction management or construction technology; Applicants who have struggled with the learning disability dyslexia.

Richard H. Crosser Memorial Endowed Scholarship ($500-$1,500) – The Richard H. Crosser Memorial Scholarship Fund for the Wayne Township Education Foundation was established in 1999 by Crossmann Communities. Crossmann Communities gave $100 to the scholarship fund for every house sold in our township.  Unique Criteria:  Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and pursue a two or four year degree at a college or university in Indiana and plan to study structural engineering, architecture, building trades, drafting, business, finance, accounting, or some other field related to building trades. First preference will be given to students who live in a Crossman (now Beazer) home, have a strong work ethic and display a strong commitment to their school or community.    

The Harold “Hap” Skillman Memorial Endowed Scholarship ($500-$1,000) – The Skillman Corporation established the Skillman Corporation Scholarship Fund for the Wayne Township Education Foundation in 2001.  Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5.  Special consideration will be given to Applicants who are interested in a career in the building trade industry and who may be studying: architectural engineering, mechanical engineering, architecture, construction management or construction technology.

Superintendent’s Endowed Scholarship (at least $1,000 renewed for four years) – This scholarship will be awarded each year to one or more M.S.D. Wayne Township seniors seeking a post-secondary degree in education.  Applicant must plan to major in education and maintain that major throughout college.  Applicant must plan to complete a four-year program at an accredited college or university in Indiana.  Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 2.5.  Applicant must have an attendance rate of 95% each year of high school (9, 10, 11, 12).  Applicant must have participated in school-sponsored extra-curricular activities and must have involvement in community and/or church activities while in high school.

Savannah Bettis Memorial Endowed Scholarship ($500) – The Savannah Bettis Memorial Scholarship was established in 2017 in memory of Ben Davis senior Savannah Bettis. In 2015, just days before she was going to graduate from Ben Davis, Savannah Bettis lost her life to carbon monoxide poisoning while riding in a car.  This scholarship honors Savannah’s memory and passions by providing a scholarship to a Ben Davis High School student. Applicants must be a graduating Ben Davis senior, plan to complete a two or four-year program at an accredited college or university and have a minimum GPA of 2.5.  Special consideration will be given to applicants who participated in a Ben Davis choir.

Taylor Marcotte Legacy Scholarship ($500-$1000) – The Taylor Marcotte Legacy Scholarship Fund was established in 2021 to pay tribute to retiring assistant superintendents, John Taylor and Cheri O’Day Marcotte, for the 70+ years of classroom and administrative leadership they gave to students and schools.  This scholarship recognizes students for their citizenship and community service and will be awarded annually to one or more M.S.D. Wayne Township seniors.

Dorinda York Art and Design Scholarship ($500) – The Dorinda York Art and Design Scholarship was established in 2021 to honor Chapel Glen Elementary Art teacher Dorinda York.  Dorinda was Chapel Glen’s only art teacher from 1972-2022. She was an art teacher since 1969.  With this scholarship, Mrs. York’s family pays tribute to her many years of inspiring Wayne Township students in the arts.  Applicants must be a Metropolitan School District of Wayne Township Senior planning to major in art, art education, design, or architecture. Cabello Family “Somos Wayne” Endowed Scholarship  ($500) – The Cabello Family “Somos Wayne” Endowed Scholarship was established in 2022 by Ben Davis High School alumni Marcela Cabello (Class of 2009) and Gabriela “Gigi” Cabello (Class of 2012) to support Latino/Hispanic Ben Davis High School seniors pursuing post-secondary education.

Robey Rocket Endowed Scholarship ($500) – To pay tribute to the 42 years of service given by Robey Elementary Physical Education Teacher, Diana Klarich, and her legacy of giving back to the community, a scholarship fund was established in 2022. The Robey Rocket Endowed Scholarship Fund will provide a scholarship to an MSD Wayne student who also attended Robey Elementary.

Gary Wishmeyer Music Scholarship ($400-$500) – The Gary Wishmeyer Music Scholarship was established in memory of beloved Ben Davis Band Director Gary Wishmeyer. Applicants must be a Ben Davis senior planning to major in music education or music.

Giant Dreams Scholarship ($500) – Giant Dreams aims to support non-citizen, immigrant students who are not eligible for federal or state scholarship funds. Eligible M.S.D. of Wayne Township seniors must be non-citizen immigrant students planning to attend a post-secondary school (vocational, associates, bachelors) in the United States. This scholarship’s establishment pays tribute to long-time educator Ruth Waterfill (grandmother of Chapel Hill teacher Nate Waterfill). Apply Here
