Global Village Welcome Center will help “Celebrate Wayne”

For thirty years, the Wayne Township Education Foundation has led the way in helping enrich, engage, and stimulate learning in the Metropolitan School District of Wayne Township. To mark that anniversary – and another important anniversary for the school district itself – the Foundation is planning a November event called “Celebrate Wayne.”

“With ‘Celebrate Wayne,’ we want to highlight the rich tapestry of Wayne Township’s past, present and future,” said Lisa Baize, executive director of the Wayne Township Education Foundation (WTEF). “We also want to pay tribute to the educators and community members who light the way as public education champions.”

Flavors from throughout the world will be featured in the event’s hors d’oeuvres, entertainment, silent auction, and wine pull. Proceeds from the event will benefit experiential student opportunities.

As the WTEF celebrates its 30th anniversary, the MSD of Wayne Township is celebrating 60 years as an incorporated school district.

“MSD Wayne has grown dramatically over the years, from around 8,500 students in 1962 to more than 16,000 today,” said MSD Wayne Superintendent Jeff Butts. “This growth has brought with it a wonderful diversity which defines us as a community that embraces all.”

“Celebrate Wayne” will take place Saturday, November 5 from 6-9 p.m. at the Global Village Welcome Center, 4233 Lafayette Road, Indianapolis (pictured above). WTEF is still seeking donations for the silent auction and wine pull. If you’d like to donate, please contact Executive Director Lisa Baize at lisa.baize@wayne.k12.in.us or 317-988-7966.
