The excitement of the new school year was just magnified for dozens of teachers throughout Wayne Township.
The Wayne Township Education Foundation helped fund more than 100 projects those teachers had listed on the DonorsChoose website. DonorsChoose is a nonprofit organization that uses crowdfunding to support public school classroom projects. WTEF partners with DonorsChoose to help many Wayne Township projects become a reality.
WTEF delivered funding to these new initiatives on August 14, which was a Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation match day for DonorsChoose. Every gift received a 50 percent match from the Gates Foundation - which helped the WTEF funding go even further.
“If we supported a project at the $300 level, the project ended up with $450 due to the match,” said WTEF Executive Director Lisa Baize. “We are always very proud to be able to activate all these projects so early in the year.”
