“Science Claus” Draws Hundreds for Evening of Fun

It has become a staple of the holiday season in Wayne Township. “Science Claus,” a production supported by the Wayne Township Education Foundation, is an annual celebration of the fun that can come when science is brought to life.

Hosted by the MSD of Wayne Township’s Scientist in Residence Rick Crosslin, “Science Claus” brought eager young students and their families to the Ben Davis High School auditorium on the evening of Friday, December 2. Mr. Crosslin was assisted by four “elves” from the school district: Maplewood Elementary teacher Justin Abner, Chapelwood Elementary teacher Mary Mason, Bridgeport Elementary teacher Keith Ramsey, and Wayne Township Preschool teacher Allison Kempers.

One after the other, the teachers wowed their audience with science demonstrations that went flash, bang, and boom! The fun, colorful and engaging demonstrations were focused on scientific principles of pressure.

“Rick Crosslin is really special,” said WTEF Executive Director Lisa Baize. “We’re grateful for the sponsorship provided by the Indianapolis Airport Authority that helped him bring the magic of science to the stage once again this year.”
